- Put in the bowl three-quarters of the chocolate chips. Until they begin to melt, stir them with a spatula. Continue stirring to melt the remaining chocolate chips after adding them.
- You can then use the chocolate after carefully removing the top bowl.
As a rule of thumb, a pot only needs about two or three inches of water. You should avoid boiling the chocolate by keeping the water at a low simmer.

Here's the lowdown on using a slow cooker to melt chocolate chips:
If you need to keep chocolate warm for a long time, such as when dipping pretzels, strawberries, and other foods, a slow cooker is a great appliance to have on hand.
- Put the chocolate chips in a container. I find Mason jars to be useful. Put the jars in a slow cooker.
- Be careful when adding hot water to the slow cooker. You should fill it until the water level reaches between two and three inches above the rim. Avoid getting any moisture inside the jar containing the chocolate.
- Preheat the slow cooker to high Avoid using a cover Incorporate stirring into the 20-30 minute heating of the chocolate. How long it takes to melt all those chips is up to you.
- Turn the heat down to warm once the ice has melted. About two hours after melting, the chocolate should still be edible.
Use this method to melt a variety of chocolates at once. If you want to keep each type of chocolate separate, just use separate jars.

White chocolate chip melting instructions.
In comparison to dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate has a lower burning point, making it slightly more difficult to work with.
Because it burns more easily, white chocolate requires a lower melting temperature. Reduce the microwave's power to 50% rather than full if you must use it. If you choose to use an alternative method, watch the white chocolate carefully and give it the occasional stir to prevent burning.
