If you want to unfollow a single TikTok account, start by selecting the person icon on their page. They won't receive a notification that you've unfollowed them.
To quickly unfollow several accounts, select "Profile" from the tabs at the bottom of the app. Then, select "Following" under your profile image. In this tab, you'll see a list of everyone you follow. Tap "Following" next to each person you want to remove from the list. The button will change to "Follow."
Unfortunately, there's no TikTok-approved method to unfollow everyone at once. However, you can go through your list and unfollow each account individually. Spend some time every day working through your list, and you'll eventually clear it out.
It's important to note that using bots to manage your unfollows is against TikTok's usage agreement and can get you kicked off the platform. Following TikTok users puts their videos in your "Home" tab, specifically within the "Following" tab. Unfollowing removes those accounts from that area of the app/website, but you can still find them on your "For You" page or through a search.
Following someone will notify them that you've added them to your follow list, but unfollowing someone won't notify them. To initiate a private message with another user, you both need to be following each other. If you both follow each other but then unfollow, the "Message" button on their profile will disappear.
Unfollowing someone doesn't delete comments they've made on your videos, comments you've made on their videos, videos you've liked, or TikTok videos you've downloaded. People can follow you even if you don't follow them, so removing someone you follow doesn't necessarily mean they won't add you again. To stop someone else from following you for good, you need to block them.
If your "Following" list disappears, it's likely a glitch on TikTok's end. Close and reopen the app, and check if there's an available update. TikTok won't notify a user when someone stops following them, but they'll notice that your name isn't on their list.
