Delete Your TikTok Account: A Simple Guide to Protect Your Privacy and Content
In case you have made the decision to deactivate your TikTok account for any reason whatsoever, you will be pleased to know that the process is relatively straightforward and should only take a few minutes (assuming you are already signed in or can recall your password). The entire process can be executed either through the app or the web. Let's take a closer look at both.
Deactivating your TikTok via the app
TikTok has made the process of deleting your account through the iOS or Android smartphone application quite simple and straightforward.

First, access your profile, followed by tapping the three lines located on the top right corner of your screen that should trigger the “Settings and Privacy” screen. Once here, choose the “Manage Account” option and proceed to “Delete Account”.
You will be provided the option to skip the question if you don't want to provide a response. In the event you do answer, you will be presented with extra information along with a possible support article link relevant to your choice.
The TikTok application will then ask for the reason behind your departure, offering multiple choice options, or giving you the option to bypass the question altogether by clicking on the button located on the top right corner. After that, the application will request your consent to download your data before deleting your account. You will need to tab the acknowledgement at the bottom of the screen if you would like to proceed with deleting your account. (We will be discussing how to backup your TikTok data below).

You have up to 30 days to retrieve your account once it has been deleted.
You will be shown a screen indicating that you will have 30 days to reactivate your account should you change your mind and stating all the things you will lose access to (including your posted videos) once you delete your account. By selecting "Continue," you will be taken to an account verification screen. TikTok will send you a code you must enter if you have a standard account, or you will be prompted to sign in via the service you utilized to create your account (e.g., Apple, Google, etc.). Once you have verified your identity, select the “Delete Account” button and confirm your decision one final time to initiate the deletion of your account. The application will refresh, and you will be prompted to the login screen.
Deactivating your TikTok via the web
You can also delete your TikTok account via the TikTok.com website.
After logging in, hover over your profile photo located on the top right corner of the site and choose “Settings.” If you have not yet reached the “Manage Account” screen, you can navigate there from the left sidebar. You can then select the “Delete” button situated under “Account Control” and follow the guided process.
